Description:
The Sales Associate, for LA Plaza’s store, La Tienda, requires exceptional customer service skills to thrive in a creative environment. The successful candidate will report to and assist the Store Manager & Buyer in daily operations of La Tienda. He/she will participate in aspects of product buying and merchandising of the store as well as be cross trained at the Admissions Desk for coverage support as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Managing store independently on assigned days, including opening and closing store and activating/reconciling POS system
• Serving retail customers and processes phone orders
• Generating daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports and other reports as needed
• Maintaining store and merchandise quality standards by cleaning and organizing on a weekly basis
• Assisting with product ordering and selection
• Assisting with receiving new merchandise and entering items into POS system
• Assisting with completing expenditure requests
• Assisting with merchandising and display
• Assisting with training store volunteers and interns
• Assisting in supervising the daily work of volunteers/interns and delegating responsibilities
• Assisting in researching new vendors and outreach events
• Assisting in store event planning and execution
• Assisting with inventory control, including preparing and processing annual physical inventory
• Assisting with vendor relations
• Assisting with administrative duties
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree (BA) with an interest in Mexican and Mexican American history and Spanish language desired. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be highly organized. Past experience in retail sales required.
