Admissions Coordinator

Remuneration: Hourly rate, commensurate with experience
Status: Exempt, F/T with benefits

Reports to: Operations Coordinator

This position will independently supervise the admissions staff and support the Store Manager to ensure efficient operations of the Admissions Desk and retail store (La Tienda) needs in order to meet customer service expectations and revenue goals. The Admissions Coordinator must be a creative and energetic individual with an interest in sales as well as education and tourism.


•    Oversees and responds to the day-to-day operational needs of the Admissions Desk
•    Responsible for communicating general information and event programming to the public in order to increase sales through active salesmanship and customer service
•    Supervises the enforcement of cash handling, loss prevention, funds and deposit procedures
•    Responds to all visitor inquiries abiding by LA Plaza’s high standards of customer service
•    Develops and implements revenue strategies and action plans to achieve revenue goals for the Admissions Desk
•    Ensures all administrative responsibilities are completed promptly and accurately and identifies and discusses operation issues/concerns with supervisors
•    Maintains an efficient and organized Admissions Desk office filing and admissions communications system
•    Schedules employees for events and prioritizes workload to meet Admissions Desk operating requirements
•    Works with Store Manager to schedule hourly staff that are cross trained at the Admissions desk and La Tienda (LA Plaza’s store)
•    Works with volunteer greeters and coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator regarding admissions volunteer needs
•    Trains admissions staff and volunteers, in collaboration with Store Manager, in customer service guidelines

•    Independently trains admissions staff on ticketing system (e.g., data entry, ticket printing), balancing ticket sales, phone sales, and various clerical duties

•    Recommends new or revised department policies and procedures; coordinates and implements improved changes in policies and procedures affecting the Admissions Desk
•    Accumulates and tabulates hours of part-time employees and reports to departmental payroll representative
•    Interacts with administration, public relations/marketing, and event management staff to accomplish Admissions Desk objectives
•    Responsible for ensuring reliability and accuracy of ticketing database
•    Receives, sorts, and distributes mail and packages to staff in a prompt and discreet manner
•    Places orders for office supplies as needed

A bachelor's degree (BA) with an interest in Mexican and Mexican American history and Spanish language desired. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be highly approachable. Past experience in admissions, ticketing, event sales required.

•    At least 5 years of ticket office experience which includes 2 years supervisory experience
•    Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
•    Knowledge of ticketing office operations
•    Experience with the implementation of computerized ticketing systems and policies
•    Strong organizational and interpersonal communications skills and the willingness to be part of a team
•    The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
•    Solid knowledge of word processing, databases and ticketing systems
•    Previous sales experience with general knowledge are a plus
