Admissions Associate

Remuneration: Hourly rate, commensurate with experience
Status: Non-exempt, P/T, permanent

Reports to: Admissions Coordinator



This position will assist the Admissions Coordinator in ensuring efficient operations of the Admissions Desk and retail store (La Tienda) in order to meet customer service expectations and revenue goals. The Admissions Associate must be a creative and energetic individual with an interest in sales, education, and tourism.



•    Assists and responds to the day-to-day operational needs of the Admissions Desk
•    Assists in communicating general information and event programming to the public in order to increase sales through active salesmanship and customer service
•    Responsible for own cash handling and assists in loss prevention, funds, and deposit procedures
•    Responds to all visitor inquiries, abiding by LA Plaza’s high standards of customer service
•    Assists with administrative responsibilities accurately and identifies and discusses operation issues/concerns with supervisors
•    Maintain an efficient and organized Admissions Desk
•    Cross trains for the Admissions Desk and La Tienda (LA Plaza’s store)
•    Works in collaboration with volunteer greeters
•    Operates ticketing system (e.g., ticket sales, ticket printing), balances ticket sales, and phone sales
•    Receives, sorts, and distributes mail and packages to staff in a prompt and discreet manner



An interest in Mexican and Mexican American history and Spanish language desired. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be highly approachable. Past experience in admissions, ticketing, event sales recommended.

•    At least 2 years of ticket office experience
•    Strong organizational and interpersonal communications skills and the willingness to be part of a team
•    The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
•    Intermediate knowledge of word processing, databases and ticketing systems
•    Previous sales experience with general knowledge are a plus
•    Excellent customer service skills
•    Excellent organizational and time management skills
•    Promotes and demonstrates superior customer relations and salesmanship
•    Reliability and honesty above reproach
•    Altru software knowledge a plus
•    High accuracy with numbers
•    A self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects and work independently

•    Strong communication skills in a professional manner
•    Must stand for long periods of time  
•    Comfortable climbing ladder above 4 feet
•    Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
